A community-wide celebration of heritage and harvest, the National Eagle Center is pleased to offer several special events during the 6-week experience. Open every day, the Center not only offers insight into the cultural heritage and history of the Wabasha Area, but also the natural history of the area. Eagle Education Classes are offered at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. On weekends and holidays with heavy traffic, the program staff provides additional classes to ensure all guests are given an opportunity to experience the Center to the fullest.



Special SeptOberfest Events include:


September 26 – Old-Fashioned Barn Dance

Join us Under the Bridge from 4pm – 8pm for an Old-Fashioned Barn Dance complete with fancy fiddlers, callers and maybe a banjo or two. A gift to the community from the National Eagle Center, these musicians are NEC supporters and want Wabasha to know how much the town’s hospitality means to our guests. Sure to be a knee-slappin’ foot-stompin’ good time. Bring your dancing shoes…Hay bales provided!

October 10 – 11, October 24 - 25

Night in the Nest
– An overnight adventure for children 3rd through 5th grade. Thoroughly supervised, this unique project coordinated by NEC staff and the Girl Scouts will serve up to 80 kids per overnight. Campers will have so much fun learning about the five beautiful birds living at the Center, playing games and doing activities, they won’t even realize it’s “educational”. Parents are invited for a preliminary program on Saturday at 5pm. Pick-up will be at 9am Sunday morning. October 17 – Ghost Stories with Duke Addicts

Nationally recognized story teller, Duke Addicts, regales spooky tales of Minnesota and Wisconsin folklore. Assisted by traditional Native American flute and drum, Duke sets the mood and entertains children and adults with interpretive adventures of yesteryear. Storytelling takes place throughout the day and there no is additional fee.
