The Raptor Education Group, Inc.(REGI) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to caring for injured or orphaned native bird species and public education on wildlife issues. REGI is located near the small town of Antigo in northern Wisconsin. Marge and Don Gibson, REGI's executive directors, founded Raptor Education Group, Inc (REGI) in 1990. Marge has worked with wildlife for over 30 years. Raptor Education Group, Inc. has three main
focuses: v
Education: Wildlife education programs are provided for adult and youth
groups. Using live birds of prey
as examples, these programs focus on increasing awareness for the environment
and preserving wildlife and habitats for future generations. v
Rehabilitation: REGI takes a proactive approach of
caring for birds that have been injured or orphaned. REGI provides medical treatment, food, housing and
professional care with the goal of release back into the wild once the birds
are completely healed. v
Research: Working with wild birds allows a unique opportunity to
view their complex world.
Behavioral, nutritional, disease and post release studies done at REGI
have contributed to the base knowledge for avian species worldwide. REGI holds permits from both the State of Wisconsin
and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service to possess threatened and endangered
indigenous species for rehabilitation and educational purposes. REGI is a member of the International Wildlife
Rehabilitation Council, National Wildlife Rehabilitators Association, Raptor
Research Foundation, and American Ornithologists' Union. |
